BLK JKS / Wooden Satellites @ The Brass Rail - 9/17/09
Friday, September 18, 2009 at 12:57PM A fantastic show with Wooden Satellites, BLK JKS (from South Africa) and Thunderhawk / Josh Hall... The Satellites were in rare form and put together an energetic set that was capped with a cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart". BLK JKS did not disappoint either with their veritable potato bowl of raw and apealing tone. And of course, Thunderhawk (or in this case Josh Hall with Jon Ross and Jon Keller) served as the musical chaser for the evening.
I didn't actually photograph Thunderhawk, because I was kind of tired of fighting the Rail's lighting after two bands. I never really got into a groove (photographically speaking) and was kind of all over the place in terms of technique. I shot with remote flashes, ambient, and with bounce flash just trying to find something that I liked...and luckily I did end up with a few shots that I'm reasonably happy with.
